Projekt Revolution - State College, PA - 2/9/02
Me (Kelly Devine, KLVD582) and my best friend Jim (Jim Hammel, Sjrth19) decided to see our favorite band LINKIN PARK. Jim came home (to King of Prussia, PA) for weekend from NYU. We took a 5 hour bus trip early Saturday morning to State College. First bus trip, had layover in Harrisburg, couldn't find out how to work seats, ... hehe. We got to State College few hours before show. I go to Penn State Berks and am going to Main Campus next year. My friend got us from bus station, we threw our stuff in her apartment, went to our apt. for next year to drop off deposit, then dined at Hooters. We love wings!!
My friend wanted to wait to meet her friends so we ended up getting to Bryce Jordan Center a few minutes before start. We had to show our cell phones and cameras then bought our shirts and stuff. When we got to our seats, Adema was already on like their 2nd song. We sat in front row of mezinene all the way on the side. Couldn't see backdrop and stuff but were closer than in previous concerts. Adema was so awesome. Cypress Hill was eh. Smoked a hells lot of weed on stage.
LINKIN PARK f'ing ROCKED!!! It was such a great experience. We really got into the music, especially "Step Up." Jim loves the beginning of "A Place for My Head" so he was really excited to sing with that. Aslo, he loves Detones so when LP covered their "My Own Summer (Shove It)," he so flipped. He was wearing Deftones t-shirt and was reluctant to take off sweat shirt to show it since he was at an LP show. Well, as soon as they started with that, the sweat shirt came off. LOL. "My December" was another awesome new song for us. Everything they do is great and they played a lot that night. "Papercut" is my personal favorite song, if I had to pick one. During one of the songs, the guys stopped to make sure some fallen moshers were OK which was so awesome of them. During one of the intermissions, my friend and I found out about the LPU but their Meet & Greet for that night was already packed. We decided to wait 'till July to join so we can go to concert within a year. Having trouble waiting tho.
After show, we walked around the venue for awhile. After being asked to leave several times, we walked on the outside of the building. We then saw the tour buses. Gate Lady was so mean!! Every like 10 min. she gave us a 10 min warning that the police were coming because we were harmlessing standing by gate. There were a bunch of people in the beginning. When Adema's bus left, they all waved to us fans. After the majority of people left, (it was soo cold out, like lost sensation of body parts cold) there were only 9 of us left. The Devoted 9! When one of the roadies came out and asked for a cigarette and light, and we all offered. I had bought a lighter just for the show since I don't smoke. Never wanted to be a smoker so bad in my life. Turned out to be a Cypress Hill roadie. To thank us, he gave us some free stuff. First tried to quiz us by asking what our fav. song from C.H. new album was. No one knew anything from new album even after concert. LOL. We got a record with like 5 versions of same song on it, stickers, Joker t-shirts, & posters. Pretty damn cool. Would have been OFF THE WALL COOL if it was LP people and stuff. We talked to so many roadies and security people. And they all lied to us! Some people would say LP was inside partying, others that they were asleep, others that they had already left. We have no idea when they left. Buses that left were all dark. When security left, we slowly ventured inside the open gate. Security guy said "If they were still here, think you would have made it in?" It was a good point. Last 2 buses were road crew, so they said. We just wanted a glimpse, a wave, a picture, an autograph, to become best friends forever with them...something. The concert ended at about 11 and me and my best friend were the last 2 people to leave at 2am. Thanks LP for a great time!!!!
