LINKIN PARK
Kings College

Linkin Park are just too perfect. Everything they do is right, every move they make takes them One Step Closer to monstrous popularity, and it's almost impossible to believe that anything could be this right. Tonight's showcase at King's College is just the beginning of what is going to be a massive rock 'n' roll ride for the American six piece, who have taken the nu-metal genre and polished it till all the swear words are gone; they've already sold a million albums in the States and there's no doubting they'll be as popular here. By combining massive riffs, enormous melodies and a pair of humungously talented vocalists, Linkin Park have taken all the elements of their genre and stretched them to their limits; whilst Chester Bennington pushes his extraordinary singing voice to extraordinary heights, Mike Shinoda raps eloquently alongside him and the combination is as heartfelt and emotional as anything on the scene today. They build, they break, they build, they break, and by actually employing a DJ for his substance rather then merely his style, Linkin Park make the most of each verse as it explodes into a chorus. All their songs are amazingly well reproduced live, and by mixing up songs as hard edged and original as With You with the almost Backstreet Boys sweetness of In The End they prove they've got one more than one tool in their box. Whilst Limp Bizkit continue to suck corporate cock to stay where they are, Linkin Park are in the fortunate position of being so good the corporates have to suck theirs.
