Imprint Label
* Linkin Park has their own imprint label.
* Mike Shinoda has already signed Simplistic to their label
and the band even thanks them in the Reanimation booklet.
* The Rosewood Fall has also been signed to Lp's label. You
can get more info on them, [here].
Jim, from TRF, was in Phoenix's old band, The Snax, and that's
how they got in contact with LP.
* Chester was also interested in signing (Hed) Pe, but their
current label Jive still wants them.
Jive doesn't want to let a band that they've had for so long go
and then have them blow up on another label. Hed rocks btw!
Linkin Park is NOT a Christian band.
This was an old assumption people made because they toured
with P.O.D. and didn't curse on 'Hybrid Theory'. [Phoenix,
however used to be in a Christian punk band called the Snax.]
The actual religious makeup of the band is quite scattered.
Brad and Rob are Jewish, Chester has his own "really
unique views" on religion (which means he prob doesn't belong to any
particular religion), Mike was raised in "a really, really liberally
Protestant church" and Joe was raised "in [a] little more conservative
Christian church". When asked about religion and spiritual advice,
Linkin Park have told kids to ask their parents, not them.
As for the lack of "cursing" on the "Hybrid Theory" album - there's
no real reason for it. Linkin Park wrote honest lyrics and what came out;
came out. They have also said that they didn't want to slack on the
writing or take the easy way out by spewing a bunch of curse words
on any given song. As for other songs and albums, they HAVE cursed and
they may do it again. This wouldn't be a big deal but thanks to
the 1st album being curse-free and having such mainstream success,
it has become an issue for some people. No one would question Korn's
use of the word "fuck", so why question LP's?!
Either way Lp's music is always honest and good.
Hair color:
Around the time of Nov 01 Mike, Chester and Joe had shaved heads-
amusingly enough Mike said they did this to avoid
questions about their hair.
* Linkin Park use Special FX (or Special Effects)
and Fudge to color their hair
* Mike's natural hair color is black.
* During the 'One Step Closer' era, Mike's
hair was bright red. He bleached his
hair himself at the time and colored it red with "Ruby Red"
and occasionally Fudge 'Rock Star Red'.
* When Mike later colored his hair blue,
he had it professionally
bleached because he said he couldn't do a good job
by himself. Mike thought the whole blue thing was
too annoying though. This led to just blue/red tips, etc.
* Although Brad's hair is a 'normal' color NOW
he used to color his hair purple, etc in high school.
* Chester's hair has been bleach blonde, black/brown, red, pink,
purple, blue and probably other colors too. His hair
styles have changed alot too. He has had curly/spikey hair,
2 devil horns, a mohawk and he's even been bald.
Linkin Park's Thoughts on Napster:
Linkin Park think NAPSTER
is helpful to bands like them because their fan base
grew from the internet and sharing mp3s of their music for feedback.
Awards/Nominations:
* Linkin Park won for "Favorite Artist - Alternative Music"
at the 31st Annual American Music Awards (aired Sep 16, 2003).
Chester and Phoenix also introduced Metallica's performance.
* Linkin Park won for 'Best Group' and 'Best Hard Rock'
at the 2002 Mtv Europe Music Awards. Other nominations
included Best Website (linkinpark.com). Joe was the only
one from Linkin Park that went to accept the 2 awards.
* Linkin Park won 'Best Foreign Rock' at a Swedish awards
show called: Swedish Hit Music Awards. The show aired on
November 17th, 2002.
* Linkin Park won the 'Best Rock Video' award at
the 2002 Mtv Video Music Awards for 'In the End'.
Other nominations included 'Best Video of the Year' and
'Best Group Video' all for 'In the End'.
* Linkin Park won Best International Nu-Metal/Alternative Artist at
the ECHO 2002 awards in Germany.
* Linkin Park won 'Best Hard Rock Performance' (Crawling) at
the 2001 Grammys. Other nominations included 'Best Rock Album'
and 'Best New Artist'.
* Linkin Park won an Emma for 'The Best Foreigner Artist of The Year'
in Finland, 2001.
* Linkin Park won 'Best International Newcomer' at the
2001 Kerrang Awards. They were on tour in the US at
the time of the awards show so they accepted their award
in a crappy video (the video was low quality) message.
Other nominations included 'Best Video', 'Best Album' and 'Best Band in the World'.
* Linkin Park were nominated for 'Favorite Artist - Alternative
Music' at the 1/9/02 American Music Awards but lost to Limp
Bizkit. Other nominees included Staind.
Other:
* Don Gilmore is
the producer on "Hybrid Theory." Linkin Park was originally a little
worried about working w/ him because they were looking for a heavier sound but they
like the outcome anyway.
* This was a joke from an interview but
Chester was saying that they almost ended up naming the band 'Ten PM Stocker',
because they recorded on Stocker Street every night at 10 PM.
* The Dust Brothers gave track 3 "With You" drum loops
and different Moog and synth sounds. "And we ended up
mostly centering in on those Moog and synth sounds,
coupling them with guitar and live drum." -mike
* Rod Stewart was at lp's practice studio, at some point before their tour.
* LP are all mostly bionic robots, Joe being 70% robot
but Chester was made from bacteria in a petri dish
which took 12 years to develop. (Some people have actually
emailed me seriously asking whether this was true LOL, come on now!)
Mike's quote on drinking/drugs:
"We have people in the band who don't drink or do drugs . . . some of
us like to go sightseeing."
* Linkin Park's message on lp.com about the 9/11 Disasters:
"While we weren't in the country on September 11, we're extremely touched and strengthened by the outpouring of support we received from fans in Europe. The horror of the tragedy reaches far beyond the United States, and we've witnessed this first hand."
Upon returning home, Linkin Park performed at San Diego
radio station KIOZ's annual concert. The band donated
$75,000 from the September 28th event to the American
Red Cross.
From expn.go:
Modart's Keep Abreast Campaign had a booth housing plaster
breast molds donated by pro riders like Michele Taggart,
Tina Basich, Tricia Byrnes, Tara Dakides, and Barrett Christy.
The breast molds were used as canvases for people to express
their breast-cancer experiences through art. Many BBC attendees,
as well as professional athletes and artists, helped decorate
the molds, which will be auctioned off to raise funds for
breast-cancer awareness. Even the BBC bands got in on the action,
as the members of Linkin Park nabbed Michele Taggart's set
of plaster boobs and decorated them for her.
For Projekt Revolution 2003 Linkin Park offered free tickets to
Military Personnel and family (During War in Iraq). Here are
Brad's comments on this:
"We feel the need to give back to those making personal sacrifices
for our country. So we've set aside tickets in every city we're
playing to invite armed-services personnel, and their families, to
attend the shows for free. Our hope, is that during this difficult
and challenging time, these special guests enjoy a moment of
entertainment and fun."
Meteora debuted at # 1 on the charts in 14 countries:
the United States, Spain, Slovenia,
the UK, Japan, Germany, Italy, Australia, Chile, Indonesia,
Ireland, Norway, Switzerland and Taiwan.
"Meaning-Hybrid Theory Cover Art"
Info on "Hybrid Theory"cover art
and what it means:
The soldier represents their hard guitar riffs, and some of the more intense
yelling vocals. But the butterfly wings represent the soft side of the band.
The slow melodic beats, and the soft soothing singing vocals. Basically it is
just a representation of how the band is not just a Rap/Rock band, but really
they are a whole new style of music all to themselves.
LP Fans on TV :)
* Mtv has a show called "Playback", in which they basically
play band's/artist's whole cds with nothing on the screen
except for stupid lines. When they played Linkin Park's
Reanimation cd (the whole way through) however, Linkin Park
had provided them with some footage for each song. Linkin Park,
themselves only appeared in 3 of the "videos". Mike was in
"Enth E Nd" and Joe was in "Ppr:Kut" and "Kyur4 Th Ich".
The video for "Wth>You" consisted of California Linkin Park fans,
quite a few being from the LPU (linkin park's fanclub). There are
also 2 of LP's crew in the footage as well.
* Meteora had 3 commercials/promos that were shown on tv
before and after the album was released. The third promo
features California Linkin Park fanclub members as extras.
* Linkin Park's 2nd video off of Meteora for "Faint" also
featured fans from California in it (aged 18 and up).
