ROCKSTAR

Metal grate beneath his feet
Screaming echoes of his fitfulness.
He slams himself down against the iron,
Crying his angst into the empty spaces.
Clutching at his hair or at his chest,
Oblivious to the eyes on him.
Every feeling bottled, stuffed and rotting, pours forth
In a liquid stream of release.
Spilling over his forsaken lips like regurgitated blood.
Your own blood curdles as he expels another growling shriek.
Pieces of your beating heart splatter meatily on the grate with every word.
He's done it again.Pulled you in once more.
Whisper gratitude to him.
He knows, every time your eyes meet, he knows.

DELSON

(*The following poem was inspired by Brad Delson
and this was Maria's perception of someone like
him as a teen*)

He runs down the stairs,
Slams the door.
Wipes away his stinging tears and curses his father
Under his breath.
Fury still flaring, adrenaline still pumping,
He picks up the instrument.
Plugs in the amplifier.
Hitting that first chord gives him a feeling
Between bliss and heartbreak.
A freedom, a strength, control.
He plays until dawn,
Until he is too weak to stand.
And even in his exhuastion, the war is over.
Because everything else seems insignificant.

EMCEE

Hints at past turmoil.
We look closer at the credits of tragedy than you think.
There is a searing pain and anger in your words of poetic intellect.
I can tell by the way you hold the microphone till your knuckles turn white.
Dark eyes that pierce the crowd.
Radiating the electricity you harbor in that chest and mind.
You're never more alive than when you live for others.
Blood you;ve wrung from memories of hemorrhaging angst.
Sweat you've let bead upon your skin as you give everything away.
Tears you've rained over discontentment and struggle.
It's apparent that you are the only one of your breed.
The only one who could rock a rhyme like this.

BLEED

(*This poem/song was made and inspired by Chester*)

Another night under the light again
Another dream comin true again
Through his songs of game and pain
Still feels like a needle in his bed
The wound he suffers in his head

He cant hide his fire
The flame which burns within
Of pure hate and anger sayin' again
ONE STEP CLOSER before he breaks again
(SHUT SHUT SHUT UP UP UP)

He fell on a lonely night
Not knowing the meaning of his life
His pain became his alliance
And so he stands in deffiance
Against the system

Bleed
He bleeds tonight
Bleed
He'll keep singing his creed tonight
Bleed
A one man army held by the hands of five member band
Bleed
A fighting chance to make his rip-rage stand
Bleed
The pain in his voice
Bleed
The option of choice

In the end no matter what he pretends
His night shall never end
Until the last song is sung
And the children are safe
When their journey has begun

The Best Band

Linkin Park is the best band ever
Boy bands they will sever
Rap and Rock is their thing
Man, Chester Bennington really can sing
As they go on through out the year
They will have gone through many cases of beer
Put on concerts as they might
Tickets sell out every night
You don’t need to be in school
To know that they’re C.D’s rule
That is why Linkin Park is the best band ever

Screaming Silence [The Battle]

Our eyes connect-the battle is taking place.
Our hate ejects-the hatred taints our face.
The unheard arguments, assaults never exchanged.
Having unresolved settlements, leaving us rearranged.
Arguing without words, without shouting anything at
all.
Battles remaining unheard, our wills begin to fall.
We’re eradicating each other, ending ourselves in a
dream state.
We’re relinquishing one another, killing ourselves
over our own hate.
Unable to escape, imprisoned in our wrath absorbed
glares.
Deciding our fate, hating each other with absolute
despair.

*Screaming Out

Screaming out all the pain, hating this feeling I have
inside.
Screaming out all your blames, hating that the pain
won’t subside.
Screaming into the night, remembering all the wrong
you’ve said.
Screaming into the twilight, remembering the feeling
of being dead.
Screaming out until my souls in agony, watching my
eyes bleed with tears.
Screaming out all of my happiness reluctantly, leaving
myself stranded here for years.
Screaming against your constant corruption, always
manipulating me to be you.
Screaming against your false assumptions, always
believing your lies were true.
Screaming out in this blackened eternity, falling to
this hell I’ve been discarded in.
Screaming out in this horrible reality, crumbling into
nothingness from the pain within.

METEORA

I'm Figure .09 out of a lineup of the millions you could have chosen.
You tell me you're Breaking the Habit, but still you continue the pain.
You take a step Foreward, towards me.
Your fist meets my stomach, and with a grunt, I feel the contusion appear.
As I Hit the Floor, I wish I could be Numb from the neck down.
Faint with fear, I scream at the top of my lungs, but Nobody's Listening.
It would probably be Easier to Run to Somewhere I Belong
Than to stay here with you and endure one more Session of pain.
I promise I'll forgive you, to try to make you stop
But I'm just Lying from You. All the pain you feel hurts me
So I let you beat me into submission to take From the Inside what hurts you more.
I'm sick of the bruises you've inflicted.
I've begged you to leave. Don't Stay here anymore,
Though I know I should try to keep my promise to you.
And after all, pain is easy to get used to.

LOOKING AT YOU

(This poem was inspired by Phoenix. Dana wrote this shortly after going to a Linkin Park concert. She was looking at the posters on her bedroom walls and this is what came out.)

You are constantly staring with this blank look on your face
Your lack of facial expression is saddening to me
I try to read your thoughts from that captured moment in time but it doesn't work
Sometimes I feel like You are looking at me, watching me, almost guarding me, but I know better
There are times when I wish You were here so we could just sit and talk,
and even though you're not here I talk to you anyway and almost expect a reply,
but none comes
Through your beautiful eyes you send me the music in your head
I rarely hear the comforting sound of your voice
There are times when I want to reach out and touch you, but you are not here
I don't feel like you are just a picture anymore
Now you are real

THE PROCESS OF CREATING ART

Bent over the table
Over his newest creation of art
Laying shadows over it,letting it fall
Into a lapse of memory
For a split second,for a little eternity
Deep wrinkles of concentration on his forehead
Distorts into an expression of anger and disappointment
As the pen he held on his hand flies cutting
Through the tense air, ending up laying
On the floor
He crumples the paper,throwing it
Among the other pieces of unsatisfaction
Burying his face behind his palms
Silent screams of frustrations
Picking himself back together
Trying to gather his thoughts
Demons from the past,painful memories
Attacking from behind
Adding a pinch of anger,anguish
To the masterpiece, waiting to be brought to life
He feels the inspiration flow through his veins
Boiling,waiting for release
He stands up,picking up the pen from the floor
Sitting back down,sighing deeply
An attempt to calm himself down
He takes out a new white sheet,a new beginning
To pour out his heart

"Microphonist"

He works the camera, the mic, and the crowd
He brings it to ya and he makes it loud
This business goes one way and that is ahead
If your dogs are lacking then jump off the sled
Many have gone thru music's turnstiles
You walked an inch, he ran for miles
He is the hammer and music's the nail
He grinds it up like inline skates on a rail
No sugarcoated lyrics but his ways are too sweet
If your pulse was fading, he's got your heartbeat
Rolling this dice gives an automatic six
He's one surprise in the LP bag of tricks
Flows so smooth it's like audible silk
Quenches your thirst like a tall glass of milk
He "writes rhymes at ease while the track stands at attention"
The world he creates is a new, a sixth dimension
To all forms of bad music, he brings the execution
Follow Mike Shinoda as he starts an evolution

"The Iron Fist"

He's the backbone when others play it spineless
The ideas that he has are devised to make you mindless
Opponents hide behind the industry and fake sounds
You get no imitations when you step onto his grounds
Stronger than a team of armed soldiers at war
When you hear his music, you're forced to hit the floor
All the skeptics can try to break his mentality
But the fight he puts up results in their fatality
When the games begin, you'll give all you've got
But I've heard your album I know it's not a lot
You know not the rhythm that comes with the rhyme
Crawl back into the past cuz now it's his time
With a polished CD, he ghosts the competition
Making good music remains his biggest mission
He's the ace in the deck that wins the game
Once you've heard his voice you're bound to know his name
Keep your headphones close cause music is necessary
The music Chester creates will soon be legendary

Becoming me (my enemy)

The pain’s too strong/I can’t move on
Everything around me that goes on
Is a blur in the eyes of the beholder
Tapping the core of that on the shoulder
And every time I waste my rhyme
I stay behind and move the thin line
I feel like I’m writing on the memory’s fear
But the answer at hand is not that clear

And everything that goes one
[Holding air letting free the dreams]
Fighting the urge to run
[Lost in the sound of your angry screams]
Willing to say that I’m gone
[Telling me there’s gotta be more]
Spilling the light as the rays of the sun

The memories attack of essence the phrase in me
Lost in my own plot it ought to be
Biting away the chance and then I’ll see
Discretion advised at speech afraid to be
And now that I gave you the cunning word
Making it sound at me absurd
Pages of text are remotely there
Until the end where it’s not bare

And everything that goes one
[Holding air letting free the dreams]
Fighting the urge to run
[Lost in the sound of your angry screams]
Willing to say that I’m gone
[Telling me there’s gotta be more]
Spilling the light as the rays of the sun

And now that I ran away
From the memory’s that come past
I’ll free my mind today
Until I feel the turn of the last
And everything that goes one
[Holding air letting free the dreams]
Fighting the urge to run
[Lost in the sound of your angry screams]
Willing to say that I’m gone
[Telling me there’s gotta be more]
Spilling the light as the rays of the sun

AKIRA

("This is about going through a lot of stuff personally, then with me, coming across linkin park and them helping me and it changing me so completely that now I’m so deeply part of this whole rock culture and I love them for what they made me.")

The end will only be near if you’re scared of it
Akira it takes you by surprise, have u heard of it
Not once, not twice,
Again and again
Until it’s beaten into your heart and you cry
Again and again
Until every essence of your being thrives to survive
Lucky for me, I’m through with it
And in the end it was all worth while
Even if this only lasts for a short time
The feeling I get I can’t even describe
This is who I am, this is my life
I don’t wana be like them
And now I no I don’t have to
Spill it out over the pen
I no I won’t ever have to come back to
This fake reality cause I found something more
It changed who I am and I owe it my whole
Everything that I am, everything that I will be
Every time that I’m not strong,
Everything inside of me
And I don’t care what anyone else says
I’ll defend this to the end of my days
Until its time for me to rest
In so many ways
I’ve changed
This place is my home
This is where I belong

Serenity

In the middle of a crowd of thousands, I still stand alone.
The vibrations of the bass guitar reverberate through my body.
The first drum beat hits me in the face like cold air, and I feel alive.
I feel the rifts of the guitar through the ground, and I'm comforted.
Scratches on a record of vinyl provide anger management to anyone who hears them.
Earth shattering notes force into the crowd, parting people from each other like the red sea.
The rhythmic sound of an emcee's voice echo's through the stadium, swallowing me whole.
I close my eyes and my senses are set free.
Words of frustration fill my ears
I know I'm no longer alone, I've taken part of each instrument in to my soul forever.

His Touch

(This poem is written about Chester Bennington)

I feel this voice flow through out my beating heart
He touches me with more then words
He touches me with his soul
With the all the pain with in
With the fear trapted
He touches me with his heart
He shows me the inside and not the out
he's been through so much
hes screaming it out
but...
you can't hear it
you can only feel his touch!

His World

There he sits in his world
wishing,wanting,waiting once more
for someone to come and unlock the door
to come in his world
So then he walks into the room
though it seems like hes not there
When you try to say hello to
he wont even try to grin
when hes in his world
But when he sees a microphone
he stands in silence all alone
Standing the for another minute
he gets up to it and starts to sing
Everyone stands and stares in shock
wondering how this kid can have such a voice
So when hes done with his song
he gets down without a bow
Then all of a sudden he hears applause
and stops dead in his tracks
So he turns around
and show a very small smile
He turns and walks the other way
They stop and dont know what to say
so they all go and walk away
But then he comes and sings again
Hes back in his world again

The Silence

I hate this silence
Why do i have a family
That just sits there quietly?
Never talks to me
I try to get a conversation going
But you just sit there and ignore me

When will this be a real family?

I feel like im going to go insane
Because i cannot take this pain
You wont listen to me
Or want to hear me
Am i even loved somewhere?

I hate this silence
Why do i have friends
Who dont say a word to me
Do they like me anymore?
I'm tired of being ignored!

I feel like im going to go insane
Because i cannot take this pain
You wont listen to me
Or want to hear me
Am i even loved somewhere?

Am i just a kid
Alone, lost and afraid?
Does anyone even care
    How i feel inside?
So will someone please come and help me make it through?

I feel like im going to go insane
Because i cannot take this pain
Will someone listen to me?
Or want to hear me?
Am i even loved somewhere?

WALK AWAY

I've never felt so ashamed
I can't take anymore
Cause it was me I blamed

I've put myself through all this stress
But I finally realized
It was you that caused the mess

So now I walk away
Never again
I've got nothing more to say

I REMEMBER

I remember being a little girl crying alone at night
I remember listening to them fight
I remember telling myself it would be ok
I remember telling myself tomorrow's another day

I remember living in fear
I remember every single  tear
I remember being afraid to come home
I remember wanting to be alone

I remember what you used to say
I remember needing to get away
I remember everything......
