[Back to Fan Reviews]

For about one month I had been desperately trying to get tickets to the Linkin Park concert in Sydney. The tickets went on sale on a Monday, but I figured that I had time and I could get them online on the Tuesday. I was wrong. The tickets sold out in just less that two hours!

My friend and I decided that if we didnt get tickets before May 2nd (the day of the concert), we were just going to show up, and try to buy them off someone.

I found out about competitions that 2 radio stations were having, so every night, I would ring all my friends, and beg them to enter for me. We tried and tried and tried for about a week, but no luck! The thing that annoyed me most though, was the people that were winning the tickets, hardly even knew who the hell Linkin Park were!!

On May 1st my friend and I were all set to go to the concert and try to buy tickets off someone, but then at about 5:00pm, i got a phone call from my best friend saying that Linkin Park were going to be at Channel V, at Fox studios, just before their concert. For everyone that doesn't know what Channel V, its this channel on Cable TV in Australia and New Zealand, and you can just show up, and be a live audience , and see bands perform and do interviews.

I called my friend that I was going to the concert with, and I told her to stuff the concert, lets go to Channel V. She agreed, and we decided to go straight from school to Fox Studios. Since my best friend (she goes to a different school) got off school early that day, she decided to go before me, and mind our spots.

We arrived at 5:15, and Linkin Park were coming on at 5:30. We got to Channel V, and my friend was right on the set, sitting on the lounge with one of her friends and all these other Linkin Park fans, while they were filming. We asked the security guard whether we were allowed to go on, and he said that there were too many people and that we'd just have to stand outside. I motioned to my best friend, and somehow managed to tell her that we weren't allowed on, so she went up to the director and asked him, and he let us on! :)

We patiently waited and waited with CD covers and posters in hand, waiting for them to be signed. The band were 45 minutes late, and only Chester, Rob and Brad could make it, as the others were doing other interviews. They had free-ed up the sofa for the guys, and had all the fans sitting around the sofa.

The guys came out, and as Chester passed one girl, he patted her on the back, and thanked her. He sat at the very end of the sofa, and was about 2 or 3 feet away from my best friend and I. I looked at Chester, smiled, and pretty much shoved my hand in his face. He took it, and shook it, and said Hi.

The band answered questions, and since the show they were on was a demand show where you demand video clips, the band demanded Be Quiet and Drive by the Deftones. As soon as it went off air, everyone started getting their autographs. All three of them signed my CD, but only Chester signed my One Step Closer single, because at the time, it seemed like a good idea to just give it to him! I shook Chester's hand one more time, and everyone went back to their normal positions as we were about to go back on air. They answered some more questions, and it went off air again.

My best friend asked to see Chester's tattoo's on his wrist, so he put his pen down, unbuttoned his sleeves, and rolled them up. All I could say was wow. They looked so amazing close up. I then said: "Hey, someone told me that the most painful part to get a tattoo was your wrist because there are all those vains and stuff" and he replied : "Oh nah, the most painful part is on your lowerback!"

The signed some more things for people.

We asked Chester if we could have photo's, so all four of us, one at a time, posed for the photo with Chester. I was last, and just before he left, he took my hand, and he thanked me. I almost died! I was like "Why the hell are you thanking *me*! Thank *you*!!". I didn't say that though.

The photo of Chester and I unfortunately stuff up, and ended up being of me and Chester's chin. (Someone bumped my friend when she was taking it, so she only got half his face).

The guys were all so nice, and I would have to say that it was one of the best moments in my life!
