Launch.com: Linkin Park Singer On Meeting Hero Weiland 11/30/00

(11/30/00, 1 p.m. ET) - Linkin Park has done its share of radio festivals, which allowed the band to meet some of their heroes. One such hero is Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland. Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington told LAUNCH: "I actually had a chance to meet Weiland for like two seconds, and it was not anything extra special or anything because I pretty much fumbled over my words." But Bennington conceded that meeting was still a highlight of his year. "That was really exciting for me because I had been listening to them since I was like 14, 15 years old, and to actually have a chance to meet somebody that I admire and look up to as far as his performance abilities and his vocal abilities was really special for me," he said. "And that was really cool. He actually had also heard of the band and he was like, 'Oh you're in Linkin Park. Great. I heard great things about you guys.' And then he had to run off and get on stage, but that was really exciting." Linkin Park continues to tour in support of its debut album, Hybrid Theory. The band can be found along with headliner Papa Roach tonight (November 30) in Providence, Rhode Island.
